We are continuing our OA Scotland employment clinics at RN Faslane about once every 6 weeks.  20 July is the next date.  These will be co-ordinated by Jim Milne’s office and will mean the Faslane crew don’t have to  make the trek across to Edinburgh.  We will of course continue to see anyone who wishes to come and visit us in Edinburgh.   Jim produces a periodical Forces Resettlement Events (FRE) update -  these are hosted on our website.   They are a great source of information and I would thoroughly recommend them to you.  We also have links to the White Ensign Association.  The Association will be well known to naval cohort, but perhaps less well known to others, some key facts about the White Ensign Association are:

• White Ensign Association is an all ranks charity.
• WEA work alongside the MOD contracted resettlement organisations in a mutually supporting role with the same common aim.
• WEA offer a different employment service in terms of guidance, CV appraisal, job vacancies, networking, mentoring and corporate exposure (via our employment register).
• WEA regularly visit Faslane and Rosyth as well as covering the other traditional RN/RM areas in the UK.

Some logic for you. If transition is a fancy name for change and a key element of being able to make effective change is the ability to make choices, how do we determine what the choices are and even more importantly how do we assess and judge those choices? I believe that one of the vital elements, indeed the very bedrock of being able to make effective choices is self awareness.  Whilst there are endless definitions of Self Awareness; it could be seen as guiding you to capitalise on your strengths while raising your awareness to your capability to change and develop.  We all like to think that we are self aware, emotionally intelligent human beings, but it is often useful to have someone hold up a mirror for us so that we can have a really good look – whilst not always a comfortable experience it is vital one.
