Universities Support for Wounded Injured and Sick

UNSWIS have been offering work placements to former service personnel who are wounded, injured or sick.  They have now expanded this to include a wider range of Veterans.

Work placements are unpaid but are tailored to the individual and range from one day “taster sessions” to work shadowing and “hands on” experience for periods as long as four weeks. As well as providing experience of particular areas of work, universities can provide information on employment opportunities and give advice on education and training opportunities within both higher and further education.

Universities are huge organisations, with opportunities for employment in a wide range of jobs: administration, management, facilites, security, business development to name but a few.

You will find more information about UNSWIS here UNSWIS leaflet – Feb 2014

If you are interested in a university work placement, please contact Mary-Clare Macfarlane, OA Scotland, mc.macfarlane@oascotland.org.uk  or Tel: 0131 550 1575 for help in arranging this.
