Networking

Leaving the military can feel lonely and looking for that new role can be daunting.

OA Scotland have set up monthly networking events across Scotland to help make your transition from the military as easy as possible.  These events are open to all ranks and give you opportunities to connect, not only with others who have been in your shoes, but with forces friendly employers and business contacts who will hopefully help you find your next role.  The life blood of our networks are former armed forces personnel who have successfully established themselves in a variety of new careers and organisations who come along to help you with introductions and information as well as civilian employers who recognise the value of hiring ex-military personnel.

These events are very relaxed, so bring your wallet and an open mind.  We look forward to seeing you at one of our events soon and please see our full list of Events.

The Network Edinburgh
The Network Edinburgh brings together ex-service personnel in transition and those who have found employment in a variety of sectors. The network is open to all ranks from all services. The group meets the third or fourth Thursday of every month.  The meetings have an informal style with advice and guidance on offer and new members are warmly welcomed.  Each alternate month we aim to focus on a topic such as "how to transition well" or have an invited speaker to look at a specific sector/topic.
We tend to meet in either the Royal Scots Club or All Bar One, George Street.  For up to date events and dates please visit here.

Forres, Moray. This networking event, like the Edinburgh and Glasgow evening are for all ranks, with attendance
from those who are transitioning or who may be looking for a career change. Here they will find support,
guidance and advice from those who have already travelled in their footsteps as well as meeting employers from
the Moray area and beyond.  Each event will have a focus, be it hearing from employers, industry sector insights,
or topics on how to network etc. These events are informal and everyone is warmly welcomed. For up to date

             Employer Networking Evenings
Every quarter OAS run a larger networking evening, inviting a range of employers from a variety of sectors across
Scotland to attend an employers' event. Open to all ranks you will have the opportunity to speak to employers
from sectors such as IT/Cyber, Defence, Renewables, Finance, Forestry, Land and Estates, NHS, Public Sector etc.
With 30+ employers in attendance you will hear first hand their sales pitch on who they are, where they are from
and if they have any jobs available.   Once they have all spoken the floor is then open for informal networking.
The job market is currently buoyant and it is a great opportunity to learn more about sectors/industries that you
had never thought about as well as having that open conversation with an employer.  So if you are transitioning or
looking for a new challenge then get yourself along.  For up to date events please visit here
